A week ago, we had the inspection done on the house. Unfortunately we weren't able to be at the inspection ourselves since we're still in Atlanta. It's not been as bad as I thought it would be trying to buy a house out-of-state--mostly because my parents are there and the invention of the internet. After finding the house we wanted, we've been able to do everything remotely.
Back to the inspection...
Thankfully everything looks fine. There are a few minor issues that we are going to request they fix or, at the very least, try to negotiate the price on--dishwasher doesn't latch properly so it leaks, there are some tree branches too close to the roof, etc. All the major things look great. We felt much better after hearing the inspector say that the house was in better-than-average shape for its age.
Later that week we found out the appraisal came back and we're good to go there too.
Now just to finalize the negotiations and hopefully be ready to close on the 4th of February!
